They ultimately purchased a Robotic Cell from Guyson after reviewing all competitor’s proposals and seeing that Guyson could not only meet the requirements but support the machine after installation. Guyson provided machine solid models, robot cycle time simulations and leading edge engineering software that made good business sense to purchase from Guyson.
This system was engineered for precise RA surface finish to prepare parts for best coating adhesion properties. It is designed fully automated to run without need for operator intervention. The process utilizes a vision system for incoming part identification. Which identifies the correct part has been places in the correct tray. This in turn selects the correct tool and correct handling and blast program to execute the processing of each part.
The 7th Axis control allows for independent part rotation during the blast cycle which optimizes the blast program increasing the speed, accuracy and ability to blast traditionally difficult areas to reach with precise blast coverage.
Equipped with 3D printed gripper fingers that are designed around the customer’s CAD models to hold the exact contour of the part for maximum control and precise pick and place.
The Custom Robotic Pressure Feed Blast Grit Blast System is comprised of an ABB IRB 140-6 six-axis robot for nozzle positioning and an ABB 1RB2600 for parts handling. Protected by Guyson Custom Robot Suit that is designed for ultimate abrasion protection and freedom of movement. For media reclamation, the systems are equipped with a Guyson Model 75/12 and D-2000 dust collector for maximum efficiency.
The Guyson Corporation has just completed a custom Model 9 Manual blast system for surface preparation application for electro-deposited composites coatings. This typical application is used in the aviation, automotive and power generation industries and can be applied to aluminum, steel and nickel-based alloys. Typical components can be rolled, forged, extruded or cast.
This Model 9 blast cabinet utilizes a powered turn table/transfer cart for ease of loading, unloading, and blasting parts. The 36” diameter turn table is capable of handling loads of up to 1,000 lbs. and is lined with neoprene to resist abrasive wear. It is also equipped with an extra set of arm holes located higher up on the cabinet to accommodate taller parts.
The cabinet was designed with safety of the operator and the safety those around the machine in mind. The outside area where part load/unload occurs is surrounded by safety walls on two sides and the blast cabinet on one side. Two Zero-Force 800Z touch button switches allow the operator to safely move the cart in and out of the blast cabinet using two hands while the safety fencing provides protection against accidental interference by others. Guyson has designed this table to handle off-center loading while allowing the operator to jog this turn table using a foot pedal switch while it is inside or outside of the blast area. For operator safety, table speed is limited to 5 RPM to keep the operator and the part safe. This function allows the operator to blast a section of a part then rotate as needed while they blast.
In this application, for contamination purposes, media delivery and reclamation utilized a one-time use arrangement.Blast media delivery is provided by the Model 900 suction-feed gun gun, equipped with a 3.0 cubic foot media feed hopper. Once delivered into the equipment, grit is pneumatically reclaimed to the Model 75/12 Cyclone, which deposits spent grit into a 55-gallon waste container. Fine dust will be removed in the cyclone to the Model D-1000 Dust Collector which supplies airflow for the entire system.

Guyson has just completed another one of its popular RB-9, robotic blasting systems. The customer had a very demanding surface preparation specification that could only be achieved by precise robotic gun manipulation and part fixturing and the use of high performance model 75/12 media cyclone.
This machine is equipped with a FANUC M10iA six axis robot that is protected with a Guyson custom hypalon robot suit. The suit is designed around each specific movement of the robot eliminating the possibility of faults due to the suit.
In the cabinet the part is held by a custom design and fixture made by Guyson. Making sure that the part is specifically mounted for a direct blast in the right sections for a ultimate result, complete with a continuous servo for rotation of parts.
Guyson’s high performance cyclone reclaimers are the most efficient available .They are lined with high durometor urethane providing maximum abrasive resistance. The longer cone design creates a high velocity separation of fines and fractured media from reusable material.Fine-tuning vents on the cyclone that enable adjustments for maximum separation efficiency, as well an tuning vortex for media grit size adjustments .This makes Guyson’s reclaim systems the best in the market.
The system has a Guyson model D- 2000 dust collector with the average efficiency of 99.99% for particles of .5 micron and above. The body is fabricated with continuously welded 12-gauge steel plate and quiet operation – less than 80 dBA.Guyson Dust Collectors also have an exclusive Magnehelic® gauge that displays pressure differential across the filter and indicates when cartridge change is needed.
